What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Responsible for all aspects of coding, quality assurance, and compliance with Federal payer documentation guidelines
- Serve as a departmental expert on coding questions and exercise independent judgment in code selection
- Research and answer billing and documentation questions from faculty and staff to ensure compliance
- Conduct training sessions for physicians on medical record documentation and coding changes
- Maintain a system of billing accuracy through encounter verification and resolve Epic Charge Review Edits
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent
- Minimum of five years of coding experience with demonstrated analytical skills
- Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology courses required or demonstrated appropriate knowledge
- CPC certification and specialty CPC certification or second AAPC certification
- Experience with Medicare regulations and understanding of third-party payer issues
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Epic experience preferred
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent
