Description:
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.
Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Current experience in Biochemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, DI, ECG’s is required. Required to take call and live within 30 minutes of the facility when on call. Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills are required. Excellent public relations and a service-oriented manner are essential. Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients/clients, families, staff, inter-disciplinary team members and personnel from other departments in a fast-paced, and changing environment. Proven analytic and problem solving skills, attention to detail, logical/methodical work habits, and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. Candidate must be well organized and flexible.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience operating and troubleshooting in the past 2 years: Experience in a healthcare setting. Current phlebotomy experience. Diagnostic Imaging- Kodak 850 CR Reader, Shimadzu X-ray unit and Shimadzu Portable for mobile x-ray ECG-Mac 5500 Lab- Vitros XT3400, ACL Elite Pro, Beckman DXH, Clinitek Status, I-Stat, and Triage MeterPro. Computer-Muse, Agfa PACS, and Connect Care LIS.
