Job Summary:
The Community Education Instructor is the facilitating staff member in each designated Community Education site to instruct a course. The instructor is responsible for implementing the Community Education course for which they are assigned and have the appropriate experience to instruct. The instructor plans lessons for the community based classes held at various locations. The course design is facilitated by the instructor and must meet the approval of the Community Education Coordinator at the designated site.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years old.
Must have patience, the ability to work with adults, and accept responsibilities.
Successfully meet background-screening requirements.
Documentation of the skill required to instruct a class.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Programming community education activities to be offered in the community school including recreational, social, cultural, personal, academic enrichment/remedial services, and workforce development;
Working cooperatively with existing community and service agencies to implement programs and services for citizens of all ages and special groups;
Promoting, publicizing, and monitoring existing and planned programs;
Evaluating the activities of community education to update their continued development;
Maintaining accurate records and reports vital to the operation and evaluation of the Community Education Program;
Performing other duties as assigned by the school’s coordinator;
Have a working knowledge of the school’s specific/unique ways to implement DCPS established rules and regulations.
