      Job summary

      The Integrated Community Specialist Palliative Care Team have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our team of specialists.

      Our specialist HCAs deliver care and emotional/psychological support to patients, their carers, and the people important to them.

      We are looking for an experienced HCA with an interest and a passion in caring for patients in the community that have complex palliative care and end of life needs.

      As per the person specification, you will need to be physically capable of performing the role, which will include the manual handling of clients/service users.

      As a Community Specialist Palliative Healthcare Assistant, you will need A CAR, A FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE, AND INSURANCE TO COVER YOU USING YOUR VEHICLE FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES - if you do not have these please do not apply - our patients live across all of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, therefore you will be required to travel across this whole region.

      Mileage expenses will be paid. Our service runs from 08:00-22:00 - 7 days per week. This post is for 37.5 hours per week.

      Main duties of the job

      The principle role of the Senior Healthcare Assistant is to assist the healthcare team in the provision and delivery of programmes of patient care under the indirect supervision of registered practitioners.

      This includes:

      • Taking physical or psychological measurements from named clients/service users as delegated by the team.
      • Supporting clients/service users in maintaining their health and wellbeing including providing personal care.
      • Undertaking specified and delegated clinical and therapeutic activities. Under the supervision of healthcare professionals assist the healthcare team with the planning, organising and provision of clinical care.
      • Ensuring high standards are maintained in a safe environment, which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals. Assisting registered professionals in the implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans.
      • Accurately recording patient information on SystmOne.
      • Providing support and supervision to other colleagues and learners as appropriate.
