!*!Temporary Internship Opportunity
The Technical Services Department at the State Library of Massachusetts is offering a temporary internship to work on data entry and quality control for our new Massachusetts Legislative Biographical File Database that is currently in the development stage. The library has digitized the index, consisting of over 20,000 typed or hand-written cards, that contain legislative biographical information for each member of the Massachusetts General Court and Constitutional Offices starting in 1780. With the assistance of the Executive Office for Administration and Finance Enterprise Services Application Development, the State Library is in the process of creating a searchable web-based SQL database for this index.
Under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager, the intern will be responsible for transcribing, verifying, and normalizing metadata found on the digitized index cards for uploading to the database using Microsoft Excel. You will bring your passion for history and attention to detail to this very exciting project.
We are looking for an intern that can work 10-15 hours weekly for 3 months, April to October during the working hours of the State Library (Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) The internship can be done on site in the State Library, remotely, or via a hybrid arrangement.
