- Performs routine scheduled inspections of contractual and non-contractual County services, ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, agreements, contracts, departmental regulations and safety requirements.
- Reviews the performance of contractual and non-contractual County services and reports deficiencies or non-compliance to supervisor, and as directed re-inspects to verify completion of remedial or corrective action.
- Identifies, orders and stocks supplies, materials and inventory required to facilitate contractual and non-contractual County services.
- May oversee the work of contracted and non-contracted workers.
- May perform inspection duties during times of extreme weather supporting emergency needs of the County and general public.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Knowledge of inspection methods and procedures.

- Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
- Ability to work outside in a subtropical climate in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel or crouch in confined spaces.
- Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
- Completion of 9th grade education; AND
- Two years of experience in the inspection and coordination of contractual and non-contractual services; AND
- Possession a valid Florida Driver’s License.

$32,136 - $39,208
Ideal Candidate
The Hillsborough County Public Utilities Department, Solid Waste Management Division seeks a Contract Compliance Inspector to perform inspections and to monitor operations to ensure compliance with our multiple franchise agreements for our curbside collection services. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Hillsborough County’s geographical area and demonstrate experience in customer service, fieldwork and can travel extensively throughout the county. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills both oral and written and demonstrate the ability to effectively answer and resolve customers inquiries and concerns. The candidate will have above average computer skills and must be able to compose detailed reports based on contractual services observations. Bilingual Spanish is preferred, but not required.
