    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Training and/or experience as a custodian or cleaning operations or equivalent.
    • Training and/ or basic computer skills
    • Performs a variety of custodial tasks to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility and grounds (e.g., sweeps, dusts, wet mops, vacuums, strips, scrubs, waxes floors, dusts, restocks restrooms, shampoos carpets, empties trash, washes walls, windows, doors woodwork, mirrors,shoveling snow, spreading salt, and removing graffiti. .
    • Operates necessary equipment safely; vacuum cleaner, buffer, scrubber, hand trucks, flatbeds, (delivery carts) in order to accomplish custodial tasks; utilize dust cloths, pails, brooms and cleaning agents.
    • Performs minor repairs as necessary including cleaning, emptying, and unplugging vacuums and floor machines..
    • Reports major repairs needed to the Head Custodian and Custodial Supervisor.
    • Performs, on a regular schedule,(cleaning, cleaning filters, oiling, greasing, replacing etc.) of HVAC filters in all buildings except those above 10 feet. Replacing light bulbs in all buildings unless scaffold or lift is needed.
    • Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials; requests needed replacements in advance so normal operations are not interrupted.
    • Complies with proper and safe waste disposal; safety practices and procedures.
    • Knows the location of all services (e.g. gas, water, electricity, etc.) and knows how to shut down or off if necessary.
    • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
    • Demonstrates positive customer service and conflict management skills when working with students, school staff, parents and community.
    • Assists co-workers as required.
    • Performs other tasks assigned by the Custodial Supervisor or Head Custodian within time and reason.
    • Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the facility is authorized and attendance is required by the principal.
    • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues.
    • Occasional use of hand tools and operation of power equipment.
    • Occasional use of potentially hazardous chemicals.
    • Occasional performance of duties requiring the use of ladders below 10 feet.
    • Lifting and moving supplies, materials, and equipment (e.g., furniture, ladders, boxes of books and paper etc.).

      9 Months (188 Days Per Year)
      SALARY RANGE: $21.62 to $27.16 per hour
      SHIFT PREMIUM: $0.30 per hour




      GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
      Performs a variety of custodial tasks to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility and grounds; operates equipment (e.g.scrubbers,burnishers, leaf blowers, shovels etc.), follows safety practices and procedures, and represents the Wooster City School District in a favorable image at all times.


      QUALIFICATIONS:
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Training and/or experience as a custodian or cleaning operations or equivalent.
      • Training and/ or basic computer skills

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
      • Performs a variety of custodial tasks to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility and grounds (e.g., sweeps, dusts, wet mops, vacuums, strips, scrubs, waxes floors, dusts, restocks restrooms, shampoos carpets, empties trash, washes walls, windows, doors woodwork, mirrors,shoveling snow, spreading salt, and removing graffiti. .

      KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS (*indicates developed after employment):

      KNOWLEDGE OF: Board policies and procedures*, safety practices and procedures, custodial methods and techniques.
      ABILITY TO: Perform light to heavy physical labor over an extended period of time, lift and move 75 lbs. (e.g. books, equipment, supplies, furniture, etc. .) communicate effectively, develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students and the general public; utilize and operate standard tools of the trade.
      SKILL IN: Use and core of tools and equipment.
