      What You'll Be Doing

      As Deputy Director of Human Resources, you will lead multiple divisions within the department and guide supervisors and program managers in day-to-day operations. This role is a strategic partner to the CHRO, contributing to long-term planning and organizational goals. You will recommend and implement improvements to HR policies, programs, and systems while ensuring consistency and compliance across the organization. The position is highly visible, with frequent opportunities to present to senior leadership and the Board of Commissioners. Success in this role requires balancing strategic vision with operational excellence and fostering collaboration across all levels of the organization.

      Key Responsibilities
      • Provide leadership and direction to HR divisions, supervisors, and program managers
      • Partner with the CHRO on strategic planning and organizational initiatives
      • Drive improvements in HR administration, policies, and programs
      • Implement system-wide enhancements that support staff and internal clients
      • Represent HR in presentations to senior leadership and governing bodies

      The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

      • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field
      • Seven years of experience in human resources administration, including at least three years of supervisory experience
      • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

      Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

      These qualifications will help you thrive in a dynamic, high-impact leadership role:
      • 5+ years of experience leading employee relations, training, and organizational development teams
      • Significant expertise in developing and managing large datasets to measure program performance
      • Proven ability to develop and maintain policies that ensure compliance and consistency
      • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
      • HR certification and experience in local government environments
