- To lead the direction and continual development of a defined group of teams and their members within the Nutrition & Dietetic Service, to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service that meets national standardsand guidance to support the very best care for our patients and those closest to them.
- To work collaboratively to support the further development of all services within the Trust and those organisations that form our wider health and social care networks to ensure an integrated system approach where learning, improvement and success are shared.
- To be the leading clinician in the dietetic service, providing specialist clinical input to an advanced level, displaying considerable knowledge, skills and experience within their chosen specialty.
- BSc / Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Registration in Dietetics with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Post graduate study at or equivalent to Masters level in relevant area
- Student Supervisory Skills training
- Relevant NHS leadership qualification or working towards
- Member of BDA and relevant special groups
- Extensive experience as a Dietitian in a specialist area
- Evidence of multi-professional, cross boundary working
- Evidence of innovative practice developments
- Evidence of leadership, mentoring or coaching experience
- Evidence of leading audit and actioned outcomes
- Experience of student training / training of junior staff
- Experience in teaching and education of patient groups and healthcare professionals
- Experience in insulin pump therapy
- Experience in the use of diabetes technology, e.g. continuous blood glucose monitoring devices and downloads

Job summary
As part of a skill mix exercise we are excited to offer a dietetic clinical lead role support out paediatric service.
This posts offer a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills whilst maintaining a clinically specialist caseload.
The post would be responsible for the leadership and transformation of the paediatric dietetic team and would take the lead for designated department wide projects or workstreams.
The clinical aspect of this role focuses on supporting patients with type 1 diabetes, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, patient-centred care. With the development of new technologies and advancements in care this is a very exciting time to join our diabetes service. Full training can be provided for the right candidate. Some flexibility around caseload may be possible.
The current paediatric dietetic team at the Great western Hospital comprises of 3.7wte registered dietitians and is supported by Dietetic assistants and our administration team. The team support both inpatient, outpatient and home enteral feeding caseloads.

To ensure the services local performance indicators are robust and evolve as required to support both Trust and National Standards to deliver a high quality, effective service, where patient experience and patient safety are a central foundation to everything we do.
To support the Head of Nutrition & Dietetics to further the development of a shared vision and set of service values by embedding a culture where all staff understand these, are involved in their development, and work towards them to support the Trusts strategy and objectives.
