This position leads and manages Banner’s global Kubernetes infrastructure on the public cloud infrastructure including AWS and Azure. Responsible for managing a diverse, geographically distributed team that operates on a 24/7 basis with a key focus on leveraging automation and implementing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to ensure an always-on reliable infrastructure operation. Works independently and is responsible for hitting milestones and tight deadlines. The focus for this position is to deliver exceptional results in line with Banner’s goals and objectives.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Oversees the operations and management of Banner’s cloud Kubernetes infrastructure on public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), ensuring reliable, scalable and secure 24/7 always ON operations.
2. Leads, manages, and develops a diverse global team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive and safe environment.
3. Leads and drives transformational initiatives to simplify and modernize Banner’s Kubernetes infrastructure technologies and optimize the operation.
4. Implements and promotes Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and infrastructure-as-code practices within the team to improve reliability and performance.
5. Manages, collaborates and influences key stakeholders to align common goals and drive changes.
6. Fosters a culture of intellectual honesty, accountability, sense of urgency and continuous improvement.
7. Promotes continuous learning and innovation within the team, particularly around automation technologies, SRE best practices.
8. Uses critical thinking and deep analytical skills to identify and solve problems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of working experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing Kubernetes infrastructure and/or public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
This role requires strong leadership and people management skills, transformation experience, and a deep technical expertise and proven working experience in Kubernetes and public cloud platforms, infrastructure services, networking and security.
Must demonstrate a high level of resilience, perseverance, dedication.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and 15 or more years of experience, Advanced degree (Master’s, MDA, JD or MD) and 12 years of experience or PhD and 9+ years of experience.
Proven experience leveraging automation tools and infrastructure-as-code techniques as a key strategy for managing infrastructure.
Proven experience implementing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
Strong people management and leadership skills with experience leading a geographically distributed team that operates 24/7.
Experience in challenging the status quo and driving transformational changes and optimization in a technical environment.
Excellent communication skills. Able to translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable language for non-technical stakeholders.
Strong collaboration and team-building skills. Able to conduct constructive debate and be comfortable in uncomfortable situations.
Excellent critical thinking and deep analytical skills. Able to guide and mentor the team to solve complex technical challenges and problems.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
