      Position Highlights

      The University of Arizona's Athletics Department invites you to apply to the role of Director, Player Development.

      The Director of Player Development will assist the coaching staff in short term and long term strategy on all issues relating to personnel. This includes recruiting as well as current team evaluations. In addition, the Director of Player Development will play a key role in on-campus recruiting. The Director will assist the coaching staff in ensuring that all program goals and needs are met.

      This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.

      Duties & Responsibilities
      • Opponent scouting: Evaluate film of opposing teams. Create scouting reports and relay information to coaching staff. Coordinate with other teams and receive information about opposing teams. Distribute scouting reports as needed.
      • Evaluate current players and communicate evaluations with coaching staff. Evaluate current team during practices and games. Evaluate prospective student athletes through on campus camps and online software.
      • Assist recruiting coordinator with on campus visits. Coordinate with staff to ensure all logistical issues are handled for visits. Give campus/facility tours as needed.
      • Oversee all technology efforts in team room, media room, batting cages, and bullpens.
      • Point person for BATS! Video Analysis System, Trackman, Synergy. Ensure games and scrimmages are staffed and all video is downloaded and dispersed appropriately. Serve as Liaison to Business Analytics School to assist with assembling data collected in a manner that coaches can use for player development.
      • Prepare and present mental skills materials for team and individual player development.
      • Prepare video for team film review of games and practices.
      • Serve as liaison to Academic Coordinator for baseball.
      • Responsible for summer baseball placements of players.
      • Serve as another set of eyes for Head Coach during both practices and games and provide feedback on all aspects of the program.
      • Provide counsel to players with regards to scouts and player agents. Coordinate information between the two parties.
      • Budget accountability.
      • Additional duties as assigned.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Skilled in evaluating players’ ability to succeed at Big 12 caliber school.
      • Knowledge of position related NCAA, Big 12, and University of Arizona rules and compliance.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
      • Dedication and motivation to initiate, lead and support value-added projects.
      • Meticulous attention to detail.
      • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and has a positive demeanor.
      • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities and successfully manage multiple priority projects.
      • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations.
      • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels, and project a positive, professional attitude.
      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
      • Three years of experience in college or professional baseball.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Five years of experience in recruiting and evaluating college and high school level baseball players.
