Job Description

- Provides leadership oversight of grant and research contract related activities at the Cancer Center.
- Serves as the institutional signature authority for grants and non‑clinical trial research contracts.
- Responsible for administrative infrastructure for proposal review, submission, activation and tracking.
- Ensures institutional compliance with federal, state, sponsor and institutional regulations and guidelines.
- Responsible for institutional education and training related to grant activities.
- Oversees institutional review of proposals and serves as signature authority.
- Works closely with faculty, management and staff on grant‑related activities, including proposal preparation, activation, close‑out and coordination activities.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, sponsor and institutional requirements.
- Oversees proposal review and sponsor negotiation including Intellectual Property terms and conflict of interest checks.
- Remains current on all federal and non‑federal grant and contract regulations and guidelines.
- Oversees development and implementation of institutional education and training programs for faculty and staff.
- Responsible for data quality of grant information and reporting of grant‑related statistics.
- Oversees dissemination of funding opportunities across the organization.
- Leads development of grant‑related policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred with a m inimum eight years of related experience is required.
- Experience working with faculty on grant proposals and awards.
- Excellent judgment and discretion with sensitive issues.
- Strong organizational, analytical and software skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong mentoring/training abilities and project management skills.
- Knowledge of cancer centers or equivalent large specialized academic institutions.
- In‑depth experience in grants, including fiscal management and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with fiscal, document and organizational tracking systems.
- Strong mentoring and training skills.
- Excellent judgment and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues.
- Ability to work independently to organize and analyze data.
- Understanding of relational databases and proficient business software skills including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
- Proficient in problem‑solving, project management, multi‑tasking and time management.
