Job Description

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a dispatch or control center role (preferred)
- Administrative or scheduling experience in a transit operations environment (asset)
- Experience with electronic dispatch, GPS, WebRisk, Halo, DATS/COPS, and related operations software (asset)
- Ability to serve as backup for Admin staff as needed
- Knowledge of local transit operations considered an asset
- Ability to remain composed and professional in high-pressure situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication; strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Diplomacy and tact with both customers and employees
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Teams, and email systems
- Effective problem-solver; agile in handling changing operational needs
- Listen and respond to dispatch requests from operators in real time
- Respond to sick book-offs and fill vacant shifts as per Bookout procedures
- Create, assign, and update daily and weekly schedules for operators and vehicles
- Assign/reassign buses, running boards, and transfers
- Support On Demand, HandyBus, and fixed-route operations; coordinate with drivers to fuel crew vehicles and log extra time
- Monitor the GPS/Transit Master system; proactively address delays and implement alternate plans as needed
- Oversee AM and PM shift flows: preparing tablets, managing lane access, shop logistics, supporting vehicle/garage entry & exit
- Communicate shift details using WebRisk, Halo, DATS/COPS, and VOC, updating stakeholders as required
- Handle driver no-shows, bus changeouts, and operational disruptions:
- Contact operators; arrange shift coverage; log and escalate events
- Log changeouts and incidents accurately in all required systems and notify On-Call Supervisors
- Support safety: respond to incidents/emergencies, complete required workplace injury procedures, and ensure policy compliance
