- Keeps abreast of current technology trends, supports the Power Electronics technical roadmap, and Power Electronics strategic initiatives.
- Experience with world-class simulation platforms and modelling best practices (managing libraries, version control, flexible modelling techniques, etc)
- Detail-oriented work standards and ability to abstract and present meaningful results
- Create, Correlate & Maintain Detailed Power Electronics Component / System Models
- Support Power Electronics Designers in Optimizing Component & Systems
- Semiconductor Selection, Bus Bar Design, Capacitor Selection, PCB Design, Sensors & Magnetics
- Multi Goal Optimization such as Cost, Robustness, Weight, Space Claim & Control Stability
- Predict System / Component Losses, Temperatures & Life Given Various Load Profiles
- Support NPI, NTI, CPI, and Cost Reduction programs to meet quality and performance targets
- Drive knowledge management including developing standard work and automating processes
- Ongoing professional development including seminars, training, and courses as needed
- Support development of global VPD strategy for Electric Drive components
- Bachelor / Master’s / Doctorate Degree in Electronics, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering with 6+ years engineering work experience
- Strong Background in Multiphysics Modeling (Thermal & Electromagnetics)
- Experience with CAD tools: circuit and behavioral simulation (SPICE, Plecs/PSim, Saber, Matlab/Simulink) or understand PCB layout guidance
- Experienced in Electromagnetic FEA Tools (examples: Q3D, Maxwell, COMSOL)
- Experienced in Modeling Power Electronics Systems, Power Semiconductors, Bus Bars, Cables, Capacitors, Magnetics & PCBs
- Experienced in Reduced Order Modeling
- Strong Background in Simplification Complex Systems for Transient Load Cycle Analysis
- Understanding of Linear Systems & Techniques to Linearize Non-Linear systems
- Experienced & Comfortable Support HV Lab Testing and Model Correlation
- Good communications and interpersonal skills for working in global cross functional team
- Ph.D / M.S. / M.Tech / B.E in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability
- Hands-on experience on power electronics development and product launch
- Previous working experience in EV OEMs or EVSE tier 1 suppliers
- Experience in DFMEA and DVP&R for EV powertrain
- Solid background in power electronics modeling, simulation techniques, and system analysis
- Enthusiastic to explore and develop new technology leveraging publication and journals.

Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.
Your role will be responsible for design, development and testing of power electronics components, including controls, power devices, thermal management, and magnetics, working directly on cutting-edge power electronics projects.
The position will collaborate with a global team to solve technical problems, deliver on project goals, continually learn to stay abreast of innovative technology and mentor team members. This role directly impacts Caterpillar's current and future electrified powertrain products. The position is within Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) division, focused on delivering high-quality electric drive for the organization.
