      The Exercise Physiologist establishes and coordinates, with assistance from the clinical administrator, the program and activities in order to develop and implement an activity program for patients that is consistent with their physical abilities.

      Qualifications

      Education Requirements

      • Masters degree from and approved program in physical education, sports medicine, exercise physiology, exercise science, or physical therapy.
      • Board certification by the American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP) is preferred.
      • Experience Requirements
      • Experience in aerobic teaching, and in working with obesity and associated diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, and apnea.
      • Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable)
      • Board certification by the American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP) is preferred.

      Responsibilities

      • Maintains an understanding of the individual physical limitations of each patient.
      • Reviews patients medical history and past and current activity levels.
      • Designs and prescribes an appropriate exercise program and classes.
      • Develops group exercise special events and motivates patients to attend.
      • Designs and presents clinical education for medical team members.
      • Participates in department meetings as part of the health team.
      • Designs patient surveys.
      • Other duties as assigned.
