      LINK TRANSIT IS HIRING A FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER!

      2026 Pay range: $26.24- $32.77 per hour (hiring range: $26.24 - $27.57)

      Days/Hours: Workdays are Wednesday through Sunday from 8am to 4pm.

      Benefits: Excellent benefit package including full family health benefits, general leave, paid holidays, PERS (Public Employees Retirement System) and 457 Deferred Compensation program with matching. Link Transit does not contribute to the retirement portion of Social Security.

      We’re seeking a well-rounded Facilities Maintenance professional who thrives on variety and takes pride in quality work. In this role, no two days are the same. You’ll handle everything from HVAC and electrical repairs to carpentry, concrete work, snow removal, and equipment maintenance across Link Transit facilities.       POSITION SUMMARY

      Under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, positions in this classification perform a variety of semi-skilled to skilled facilities maintenance duties at all Link buildings, grounds, bus stops, transfer centers and other Link Transit facilities. Skilled maintenance duties includes building maintenance and renovation; carpentry work; HVAC and other system maintenance and repair; mechanical, electrical, welding/fabrication and plumbing work.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

      Perform skilled work in the maintenance and renovation of assigned buildings, offices, bus stops, shelters, transfer centers and other facilities.

      Perform semi-skilled to skilled grounds maintenance work by applying herbicides and pesticides, mixing, pouring and finishing concrete, installing fences and shelters, and installing and maintaining irrigation systems and related equipment as needed.

      Install signs, glass, and benches at bus stops; dig post holes and replace signs.

      Perform rough and finish carpentry work in the maintenance, alteration, modification, repair and construction of Link Transit facilities; modify, construct and install shelters, walls, ceilings, and shelves; install and repair doors and windows; monitor gates to facilities.

      Perform semi-skilled to skilled mechanical work, electrical (up to panel), plumbing, painting, welding/fabrication work; install, inspect, maintain, repair and replace electrical parts and equipment such as lighting receptacles, fuses, cables, outlets, light bulbs and fixtures;

      Perform semi-skilled to skilled work in the installation, service, repair and maintenance of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and equipment.

      Perform semi-skilled to skilled work in the installation, service, repair and maintenance of wiring for computers, office equipment, and shop appliances.

      Monitor, service, repair and maintain a variety of facility maintenance vehicles and equipment and other Link equipment, including the bus washer, air compressors and roll up doors.

      Operate vehicles and hand/power tools and equipment commonly used in the skilled repair and maintenance of facilities, including snow removal equipment and fork lifts.

      Maintain routine records related to work performed and prepare written reports of vandalism.

      Clean and maintain facilities according to established schedules; sweep, scrub, wash and clean shelters, fixtures and facilities; remove graffiti.

      Perform grounds maintenance by weeding, pruning and mowing grass, bushes and trees and caring for landscaped areas; apply herbicides and pesticides as needed and maintain application records.

      Collect debris, trash and litter in and around facilities; collect garbage at bus stops, transfer centers and other locations.

      Perform snow removal, plowing, shoveling and application of sand and salt.

      Education and Experience :

      Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by specialized training in the maintenance and repair of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, irrigation, mechanical and other systems and at least three years of skilled facilities maintenance experience.

      Knowledge of :

      • Principles, practices, methods, procedures and equipment used in the skilled repair and maintenance of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, irrigation, mechanical and other systems.
      • Hand and power tools used in semi-skilled to skilled carpentry, electrical and plumbing work.
      • Use and maintenance of a variety of vehicles used in facilities and grounds maintenance work.
      • Workplace health and safety practices.
      • Oral and written communication skills.

      Ability to :

      • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair various types of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, irrigation, mechanical and other systems and equipment.
      • Use and care for tools and equipment used in performing skilled maintenance work.
      • Work independently in the absence of supervisor.
      • Maintain facilities according to established schedules;
      • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
      • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
      • Perform a variety of semi-skilled to skilled installation, maintenance and repair duties including maintaining, repairing and altering buildings, offices, bus stops and shelters, transfer centers and other facilities.
      • Observe established health and safety regulations.
      • Identify occupational safety hazards.
      • Operate hand and power tools used in cleaning, grounds keeping and light maintenance work.
      • Operate a four-wheel drive plow truck with sander.
      • Perform physical work for extended periods of time.
      • Work cooperatively and effectively with others.
      • Work independently and as part of a team.
      • Follow oral and written directions.

      OTHER REQUIREMENTS

      Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and good driving record throughout employment. Depending on assigned responsibilities must obtain and maintain a current applicator’s license, traffic flagger certification and forklift certification.

      Working Environment :

      Duties are primarily performed both in indoor and outdoor environments. Duties involve travel from one location to another to conduct work, and incumbents are subject to noise, traffic hazards and adverse weather conditions.

      Physical Demands :

      Essential functions require the ability to see to drive; hear to understand and follow directions; and operate hand and power tools, stand, walk, lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds, stoop, bend and climb ladders and stairs.
