- High school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of six (6) months of experience providing direct customer service in a public-facing environment (e.g., in person, by phone, or via email).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, including preparing routine correspondence and interacting effectively with the public, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota.
- Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job proficiently may be substituted for the above requirements.
- Assists with scheduling athletic rentals using recreation software.
- Supports communication with renters of all park facilities regarding tours, scheduling details, and facility information.
- Supports volunteer coordination by meeting with volunteer groups and assisting with the planning of volunteer events.
- Assists volunteer groups by communicating work locations, work processes, and cleanup expectations as directed by the supervisor.
- Performs pre- and post-rental inspections of park and recreation facilities.
- Supports the delivery of programs and events by providing maintenance and cleaning assistance as directed to meet community needs.
- Supports the management and maintenance of park restrooms as needed.
- Performs work in accordance with safe work practices and promptly reports safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Helps ensure park amenities are safe, clean, and operational, including but not limited to restroom buildings, benches, drinking fountains, signage, and parking lots.
- Works collaboratively to support Facilities Division operations through a variety of support activities, including clerical, maintenance, and organizational tasks.

- Must comply with data practices policies and standards relative to not public data. Any access to not public data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that are necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility. While data are being accessed, incumbent should take reasonable measures to ensure the not public data are not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is reasonably finished the not public data must be properly stored according to city policy and the Minnesota Statutes.

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Recreation Coordinator, the Facilities Recreation Assistant is responsible for assisting with recreation scheduling, communicating with park renters, volunteer coordination, and supporting the management and long-term planning of park facilities. Staff support the development of new programs and policies for the City of Mankato through research, data collection and entry, and by providing customer service in person, online, and over the phone.

Regular working hours are typically Monday through Friday, between 7:00-8:00 a.m. to between 3:30-4:30 p.m. Workload is based on seasonal needs and hours of operation.
