Job Description

- Graduation from high school or GED (if you have not yet graduated but will in Spring/Summer 2026 please note that in the education section of your application)
- Must be 18 years of age
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License
- Participate in and complete academic and physical training program in preparation for future firefighter duties
- Lift, carry, and operate heavy tools and equipment
- Perform routine maintenance of department equipment, buildings, and grounds
- Assist with safety education, community, and recruitment events
- Reviews personnel, financial, cost, and other data from various sources
- Reviews and refers calls at fire headquarters; responds to community service needs and assignments; takes reports, provides information
- Assists with reviewing codes, ordinances, laws, and requirements relevant to installation and/or repair of commercial and residential systems and structures
- Assist with special projects as assigned
- Performs any other related work as required
This is a 4-month / 32 hour per week (June, July, August and September) , internship position to provide an in-depth experience in various types of firefighter work and gain a broad range of skills. Specific work assignments include the performance of routine tasks and assisting various staff while acquiring basic knowledge and understanding of fire department functions, procedures, and requirements. Work in this position is performed under the guidance and supervision of a supervisor in the fire department.
