      About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles.       Duties


      • Plan and direct overall management and supervision of the Fire Protection and Prevention Programs for a large federal installation, including tenant activities, first response to hazardous material incidents,
      • and emergency medical treatment and transportation (Advanced Life Support) service for the depot.
      • Develop, coordinate, and implement programs, policies, regulations, and procedures, and serves as technical advisors to management on all matters pertaining to fire protection and prevention.
      • Direct and supervise through subordinate supervisors, employees in the fire department engaged in all phases of operation and maintenance of fire apparatus, appliances, and fire extinguishing systems.
      • Organize work to increase effectiveness, productivity, and job satisfaction.
      • Coordinate with technical specialist to design and formulate procedures for operational control of fire-prone equipment and materials.
      • Perform initial and on-going focused patient assessment and determines priority of patient care based on assessment findings by physical examination.

      Requirements


      • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
      • This position requires the completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examination in accordance with DoDM 6055.06 to ensure continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
      • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
      • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
      • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
      • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
      • This position is subject to 24-hours recall.
      • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
      • This position requires the incumbent to wear the prescribed uniform and/or personal protective equipment while on duty.
      • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
      • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
      • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
      • This position requires the incumbent to conform to the requirements set-forth in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1500, Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety Program.
      • This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
      • The work situations is characterized by complex and highly hazardous firefighting and EMS Operations. Hazards of the of the job include (1) the possibility of burns and other effects of but, smoke inhalation, falling materials, explosion;
      • (2) exposure to toxic materials, (3) dealing with victims of fire in varying stages of fright and panic; (4) operating or riding emergency fire vehicles under adverse conditions in congested areas.
      • This position requires to work 60 hours per week (four 9 hour days, and one 24 hour shift) and 120 hours biweekly, and provide coverage on nights, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
      • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
      • This position requires a successfully completion of the Civilian Education System Course and the Supervisory Development Course within 12 months in the position.
      • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
