      Job summary

      Lyndhurst Medical Centre (London Borough of Bexley) is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic qualified Health Care Assistant to work part-time.

      Main duties of the job

      Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurses, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of specific programmes of patient care. The primary duties and responsibilities of a Health Care Assistant are:

      • New patient health checks
      • Phlebotomy
      • Dressings
      • NHS Health Checks
      • Weight Management
      • Administration of vaccinations appropriate to training and qualifications
      • Urinalysis
      • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
      • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
      • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
      • Ordering and maintaining an adequate stock of consumables
      • Preparing equipment before, during and minor operations and supporting Clinician
      • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
      • Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
      • Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
      • Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
      • Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
      • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

      About us

      Lyndhurst Medical Centre is a four partner PMS practice with a patient population of 12,700.In April 2026, Lyndhurst Medical Centre will be amalgamated with Bursted Wood Surgery, another local APMS practice based in Barnehurst. The total patient population will be 19,000 and the new practice will work across the current two sites. Both practices come in the top ten in the 2025 patient survey for overall satisfaction within the Bexley Borough.

      We have a fantastic multi-disciplinary team including Salaried GPs, Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Home Visiting Paramedic, HCAs and a good established support and reception team in place. We are a member of an innovative high performing Primary Care Network (APL Bexley PCN) with four other local practices.
