      Healthcare Assistant - Operating Theatres Band 3 - 37.5 hrs

      Are you looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Band 3 Theatre Healthcare Assistant, to join our busy Neurosurgical theatre team.

      We currently have seven neurosurgical theatres which cover cranial, complex spine, interventional neuroradiology and emergency neurosurgery theatre that runs 24/7 so weekends and late shifts would form part of your shift pattern. There are Pain services that take place in The Walton Centre and Halton and the successful candidate would work across both sites. We are the region's specialist centre for spinal services and one of the largest in the country.

      Theatre experience is desirable but not essential, we offer an excellent induction programme which includes supernumerary preceptorship to ensure competencies are achieved, plus you will have access to ongoing CPD and training opportunities provided by our dedicated theatre education team.We are looking to expand our theatre team by recruiting motivated, dynamic theatre healthcare assistants who are committed to delivering excellent patient care. As the only hospital in the region dedicated to Neuroscience surgical specialities this is a fantastic opportunity for staff to expand their existing skills and knowledge within a diverse and challenging range of specialities.

      Main duties of the job

      To be a member of the peri-operative theatre team providing basic nursing care by working within scope of own competencies and hospital policies maintaining confidentiality at all times.The candidate will be expected to work at both The Walton Centre and Halton sites.

      As a department we focus on patient safety, excellence and staff well-being so we are looking for individuals who have these values at the centre of all they do. In return we offer a clearly defined training and development package.

      Working within one or more areas of reception, recovery, anaesthetic room or theatre the HCA is a member of the multidisciplinary team whose function is to assist the team in the delivery of a high standard of patient care. This will involve undertaking basic and extended skills with indirect supervision.

      • NVQ level 2 /working towards NVQ level 3 or equivalent acute hospital experience.

      Desirable

      • Computer literate (ECDL)
      • NVQ Operating Department Support modules.
      • Additional competencies e.g. cannulation, venepuncture.

      • Effective verbal & non-verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to prioritise workload.
      • Experience in an acute clinical environment.

      • Experience in operating theatre.
