- Ordained Minister endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church.
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. E.g. Theology.
- Ministerial experience of working with Roman Catholic Church community.
- Experience of working with others and independently, including with colleagues of other faiths / traditions and none.
- Experience of caring for the sick or bereaved.
- oBasic knowledge and experience of NHS care strategy and policy.
- Knowledge of and ability to provide rites of passage and rituals etc, particularly with the regard to the dying and for those seriously ill.
- Knowledge of multi-faith/ belief needs and cultural requirements.
- An understanding and respect for diversity.
- Understanding of Trust Values and relation to role.
- Knowledge of Ethical issues.
- Computer literate.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to listen, be open minded and respond with empathy compassion and with a tolerant attitude.
- Ability to demonstrate self- awareness.
- Ability to balance care, confidentiality and accountability within reporting structures.
- Evidence of continued Professional Development.
- Willing to receive supervision and leadership of the chaplaincy manager.
- To be in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church and the Bishop of Salford.
- Able to share in weekend provision and participate in an on-call rota to respond to urgent calls out of contracted hours.
- To be able to travel to the hospital within 1 hour at any time of the day/ night when working or on call.

Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established multi-faith/ belief team in Salford Care Organisation, part of the Northern Care Alliance. As a member of the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care team, you will be working in a diverse setting and will be required to respond to the spiritual, religious, cultural and pastoral needs of patients, visitors and staff.
The part time position is an ideal job share and will involve working set hours/ days and participating in a shared on-call rota (out of hours, weekends and bank holidays) with other chaplains. This would require you to live within a reasonable distance of the hospitals and have an ability to travel to the hospitals when needed.
Main duties of the job
The Chaplain will primarily work with and support those of a Roman Catholic faith providing pastoral and sacramental care. This will involve responding to specific referrals and visiting wards to provide pastoral/ emotional care; sacramental care and rituals, as well as sharing in the training and supervision of volunteers as is appropriate.
We are looking for an ordained minister in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church Previous experience of healthcare chaplaincy and the NHS is desirable but it is not essential. You will be eligible to work towards UKBHC registration.
