- Must have thorough knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of code enforcement, including some familiarity with criminal law enforcement.
- Building related codes and ordinances enforceable by the City, specifically the International Building Code, housing standards, sub-standard buildings, dangerous structures and health, safety and nuisance codes.
- Completes administrative duties by answering calls; providing information to the public and other departments as requested; compiling various reports; completing documents and forms; and maintaining records.
- Supervises personnel by observing and monitoring work tasks; functioning as a lead worker; and providing guidance, instruction and feedback
- Requires a high school diploma or GED supplemented by college credit AND two (2) years in a code enforcement related field.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License required.
- Possession of a registration as a Code Enforcement Officer within the State of Texas and a Housing Quality Standards Certification a plus
The Housing Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housing Enforcement Officer to join our team!Performs a variety of Housing Quality Standards Inspections on Section 8 units. Works with owners and participants to gain compliance. Interpret and apply regulations governing Section 8 inspection process. Identifies and inspects premises for substandard conditions and assists property owners to ensure compliance with minimum housing, zoning, health and nuisance standards established by the City.- Must have thorough knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of code enforcement, including some familiarity with criminal law enforcement.
