      Information Security Intern

      Job Description

Ready to Launch Your Information Security Career?

If you’re a 3rd or 4th year student who’s curious about cybersecurity, excited by AI, and ready to apply what you’ve learned in the real world — this internship is built for you.

At People Inc., we don’t just publish content — we power decisions for nearly 200 million people every month across iconic brands like PEOPLE, Better Homes & Gardens, FOOD & WINE, Investopedia, Verywell, and more. Behind the scenes, our Information Security team protects the technology, data, and digital platforms that keep those brands running safely and securely. Now, we’re looking for a driven student to join us.

What You’ll Get Out of This Internship

This isn’t a “shadow and observe” internship. You’ll:

      • Work on real security challenges in a large-scale digital media company

      • Build hands-on experience in security operations, AI security, cloud security, and security governance

      • Learn directly from experienced security professionals

      • Contribute to projects that impact the entire enterprise

      • Graduate with practical, resume-ready experience in modern security environments

You’ll rotate across core areas of security and see how an enterprise-wide security program operates from the inside.

      What You’ll Work On

      AI Security & Innovation

      • Explore how AI and Machine Learning can improve threat detection and automate security workflows

      • Help shape guidelines for safe and responsible use of Generative AI and LLM tools across the company

      • Experiment with emerging AI security use cases in a real-world environment

      Automation & Data Analysis

      • Write scripts (Python, Go, etc.) to automate repetitive security tasks

      • Work with APIs and analyze large security datasets (logs, alerts, telemetry)

      • Help streamline processes and make the team more efficient

      Security Operations

      • Investigate real security alerts

      • Support incident response efforts under expert guidance

      • Participate in threat hunting activities across the organization

      Cloud & Infrastructure Security

      • Gain exposure to multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)

      • Learn how modern infrastructure-as-code and DevSecOps principles are applied in practice

      Cross-Functional Collaboration

      • Work with Product, Engineering, IT, Legal, and Privacy teams

      • Help embed security early in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

      • See how security aligns with business goals in a large organization

      Compliance & Security Awareness

      • Assist with internal audits and security framework activities

      • Help run phishing simulations and awareness campaigns

      • Support brand protection and intellectual property monitoring efforts

      Who You Are

      You’re a motivated 3rd or 4th year student!

      You likely have:

      • Enrollment in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical program

      • Coursework in networking, operating systems, or cloud fundamentals

      • Experience with a scripting language (Python, Powershell, or similar)

      • Interest in AI/ML, data science, or prompt engineering

      • Exposure to concepts like Zero Trust, IAM, DevSecOps, or cloud security

      You stand out if you:

      • Build projects outside of class

      • Like solving puzzles and digging into how systems work

      • Stay current on cybersecurity news and emerging threats

      • Want to move fast, learn quickly, and contribute meaningfully

      Why This Internship Is Different

      • You’ll work on real systems — not simulations

      • You’ll see how AI is actually being applied in enterprise security

      • You’ll gain exposure to multiple security domains, not just one niche

      • You’ll leave with practical experience that employers are actively looking for

If you’re ready to turn your coursework into real-world impact and take the first serious step toward a cybersecurity career, we’d love to meet you.
