      The South Carolina State Museum seeks an energetic, detail orientated employee to work within the IT Department. This position will report to the Director of Information Technology. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

      Training and Assistance:

      • Provides introductory computer training for SCSM personnel, offering ongoing support for the utilization of SCSM application software and equipment.

      User and Desktop Support:

      • Serves as the first point of contact for supporting SCSM users, offering expertise in troubleshooting a variety of issues, encompassing software (applications, operating systems, and utilities) and hardware (computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, printers, and communication equipment) problems.
      • Provides ongoing support for desktops, laptops, peripheral equipment, and software, ensuring adherence to established standards and guidelines, including OS patching and software patching.
      • Assists in technical upgrades, system maintenance, and patch management for desktop systems to ensure optimal performance and security.

      Network and Server Support:

      • Provides backup support for the Windows network, covering wireless connectivity, workstations, printers, communication hardware, and server backup duties.

      Meeting Spaces and AV Support:

      • Provides meeting setup and support, ensuring that staff and clients’ needs are met for effective communication and collaboration.
      • Works with our vendors to ensure the proper functioning of the audio-visual system, fostering a proactive approach to maintenance and troubleshooting.
      • Ensures the seamless operation of sophisticated audio-visual tools, contributing to a smooth and effective communication and presentation environment.
      • Performs hardware inventory tasks to include receipt documentation, conducting periodic physical inventory of assigned computing equipment, and proper tagging of newly acquired equipment.
      • Assists with technical upgrading and maintaining entire desktop systems.
      • Performs basic tasks to manage, support, and maintain sophisticated audio-visual and presentation hardware and software in use at the agency. This includes but is not limited to computer-based recording equipment, presentation software, projection hardware and software, video cameras, and internet or video-conferencing collaboration and meeting software/hardware installed within the agency meeting spaces.
      • A high school diploma and relevant experience.
      • Basic to moderately complex knowledge of capabilities and intricacies of systems and applications.
      • Ability to understand and carry out simple to moderately complex technical and non-technical instructions and requests.
      • Ability to work effectively with users, vendors, and other IT personnel.
      • Ability to use problem management database and helpdesks systems.
      • Due to a variety of working conditions, such as office environment, exposures, and tight spaces, applicant must have the ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb stairs/ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to complete necessary job functions.
