      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Accurately code inpatient records for the classification of diseases, injuries, procedures, and operations using the ICD10CM/PCS coding system
      - Ensure compliance with coding rules and regulations according to regulatory agencies (CMS, OIG)
      - Collaborate with team members to meet departmental and accounts receivable goals
      - Abstract prescribed data elements from medical records
      - Maintain knowledge of encoder systems and relevant coverage determination policies

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Minimum educational requirement: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
      - AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification required
      - If not certified upon hire, must obtain CCS or RHIT certification within 2 years (with exceptions for certain employees)
      - Knowledge of encoder systems, Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), and National and Local Coverage Determination policies
      - Minimum of 3 years of relevant coding experience

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Additional coding certifications such as CCA, CPC, COC, or RHIA
      - Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
      - Strong communication skills to effectively interact with coworkers, management, and physicians
