- Design and develop novel software solutions for medical devices.
- Draft test protocols, execute tests, and create test reports.
- Support maintaining development environments, testing tools, and testing environments.
- Perform risk analysis for new software implementations and present possible solutions to stakeholders.
- Evaluate existing software implementations for performance and stability measurements.
- Provide functional software solutions and testing plans to verify functionality.
- Produce design documentation for developed software solutions following templates and industry best practices.
- The ideal candidate is a full-time graduate student from an accredited college or university working towards a master’s degree or a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Medical Physics, or related field in STEM field.
- Experience with applying signal/image processing techniques on image data.
- Experience writing software to communicate/control hardware including, but not limited to, data acquisition and motor controls.
- Experience in contributing to existing software solutions and working with constrained development requirements
- Solid understanding in software design, implementation, testing, and debugging.
- Proficient in a high-level programming language (C++ or C# preferred).
- Proficient in MS Office or equivalent documentation tools.
- Students must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- This is a full-time, temporary position that requires a commitment of 12 weeks, 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, during regular business hours. This is a hybrid position, which requires in-office work at least 3 days a week.
Canon Medical Research USA, Inc. (CMRU) is proud to announce the launch of our 2026 ADVANCE internship program. Students will work alongside our scientists and engineers as we develop cutting-edge medical imaging technologies for our parent company Canon Medical Systems Corporation.
The ADVANCE Program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience working on important technical projects. This program runs 12 weeks during the summer term. This is a full-time, 37.5 hours a week, paid internship.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
CMRU is looking for a qualified intern to join our Collaborative Innovation Center (CIC) team and work alongside our scientists, engineers, and medical partners in the design, development, and testing of our new imaging technologies.
This position will work on the implementation and improvement of user interface and control software for a prototype medical device currently undergoing clinical evaluation. This role will involve working with stakeholders from various technical backgrounds to evaluate current challenges and collaboratively develop, test, and deploy successful solutions.
