      Otsuka’s internship program, Intern the Otsuka Way ( InTOW ), offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop critical skills while contributing to meaningful projects. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, learn about the complexities of the pharmaceutical industry, and gain insights into potential career paths. By combining practical experience with professional development, our program prepares interns for future success. Our internship program also includes instructor led trainings , a leadership engagement series, as well as insightful lunch and learns.

      Job Description

      The Commercial Data Science Intern will support advanced analytics initiatives for Voyxact , a recently launched therapy in the highly competitive IgA Nephropathy ( IgAN ) market. As the treatment landscape evolves and additional competitors enter the market, this role will focus on developing prospective HCP targeting capabilities to support continued growth and competitive defense. The intern will work closely with the Associate Director of Data Science to help establish an automated framework for HCP valuation and prescribing propensity modeling, leveraging advanced analytics and AI to predict which healthcare providers are most likely to adopt Voyxact.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Support the design and development of an automated HCP valuation and propensity modeling framework for Voyxact.

      • Analyze prescription sequences to identify patterns and triggers that precede product adoption.

      • Incorporate new data inputs, such as primary market research and attitudinal insights, to enhance adoption propensity predictions.

      • Perform data preparation, exploratory analysis, and feature engineering to support model development.

      • Assist with prototype model development, testing, and validation using advanced analytics or AI-based techniques.

      • Document analytical methodologies, assumptions, and findings for knowledge sharing and scalability.

      • Translate analytical outputs into clear, actionable insights to inform commercial targeting and engagement strategies.

      Minimum :

      • U ndergraduate or graduate student graduating in the next 12- 18 months who is pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Experience with data preparation, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
      • Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
      • Can commit to full duration of internship program.

      Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

      • Experience analyzing time-series, sequence-based, or behavioral data is a plus.

      • Ability to synthesize complex analyses into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.

      • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple analytical tasks concurrently.

      • Interest in pharmaceutical commercialization, healthcare analytics, or rare disease markets.

      Minimum $22.00 - Maximum $28.00: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting pay for individuals who are hired to perform the role in the United States. Other elements may be used to determine actual pay such as the candidate’s educational background and specific skills.
