As a Labourer I at Fort Edmonton Park, you will be a key member of the team that ensures the safe and successful operation of our upgraded facilities. You will succeed if you are safety focused, agile in response to uncertainty and change and can complete all your tasks in a respectful, inclusive and service-minded way.

      What will you do?

      • Maintain site assets, including fencing, minor plumbing repairs, snow removal, grass cutting, tree trimming, painting, splitting wood and garden preparation
      • Operate a variety of tools and equipment, such as snow plows, snow blowers, chainsaws, skid steers, table saws, generators, vfds
      • Perform various carpentry duties, such as repairing boardwalks, assembling/repairing tables and benches, and managing other small projects as they arise
      • Inspect and perform minor repairs on mechanical rides
      • Provide excellent customer service to the public
      • Other related duties as required
      • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent

      Asset:

      • Previous Fort Edmonton Park labourer experience and/or experience with amusement rides.

      Skills required for Success:

      • Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment, including chainsaws, weed whips, ride-on mowers, bobcats, groundsmasters and antique vehicles
      • Physical ability and manual dexterity to lift up to 50 lbs (picnic tables, benches, power tools, etc.) and complete repetitive physical labour for 8 hours per day in various weather and environmental conditions
      • Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards involved with the assigned work
      • Ability to succeed independently and as part of a team Strong written/verbal communication and customer service skills

      Conditions of Employment:

      • Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel-toed boots and a respirator, is required
      • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C at time of hire is a requirement of this position
      • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
      • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
      • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style

      Successful candidates may be eligible for recall in the 2027 season

      Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 6 months ( with a possibility of extension of up to 11 months), and up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 11 months

      Hours of work: 40 hours per week, 6:00 am - 11:00 pm, 7 days a week. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays is required. (Note: Wednesday to Sunday as the predominant work days during May to September)

      Salary: $24.416 - $33.470 (Hourly)
