- Serve as a Shift Leader who is an assistant to the Guard Shift Supervisor.
- Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and provides on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures.
- Independently perform installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirement as a guide to access determination for a wide range of unique circumstances.
- Operate and perform research queries on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws.
- Provide information/recommendations regarding scenario/operational effectiveness.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
- Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
- Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually in the use of assigned firearms/weapons as conducted IAW AR 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".
- Will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT). Failure to meet the PAT requirements as outline is Army Regulation 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".
- Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability, which requires employee to carry and deploy a riot baton, carry a protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions if necessary.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
- Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
- Employee and prospective employee of this job are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct as assessed under the Individual Reliability Program.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Controlling access of vehicles and pedestrians utilizing automated systems to verify suitability for entry; 2) Working with Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organizations in identifying suspicious activities, unauthorized entry, fires, medical emergencies, criminal acts or other hazards; 3) Exercising crowd controlling measures in situations that may become violent or unruly; 4) Ensuring incident scenes are preserved for law enforcement investigators; and 5) Operating workstation terminal submitting research queries in accordance with federal and state laws. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-06).About the company
