      Summary: Our Early Learning Center (ELC) strives to provide high-quality early childhood education and early intervention for children with and without disabilities in an inclusive educational setting. The Lead Teacher provides classroom leadership, design and implement intervention for children enrolled in the ELC.


      Schedule & Location:
      The ELC is located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue in SE Washington, DC. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 7:30a - 5:30p, year round. This is a full time position with a flexible schedule within the center hours, depending on program needs.

      This position has an annual salary range of $60,678 - $71,010 depending on education level.

      Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

      · Provide supervision to classroom staff

      · Promote a team atmosphere in the classroom

      · Participate in the development and implementation of IFSP/IEP’s

      · Design and implement activities to meet each child’s goals and objectives

      · Ensure that written lesson plans, progress reports, data sheets, and other pertinent documentation is completed

      · Prepare and present relevant information at team meetings, parent meetings and evaluative meetings

      · Ensure that written and verbal communication with parent consistently occurs and is documented

      · Maintain communication and work in collaboration with clinical team

      · Make appropriate clinical referrals regarding materials, equipment service needs

      · Assist in the monitoring of the medical and dietary needs of each child

      · Facilitate family participation through home and center based activities

      · Participate in staff training activities and staff development.

      · Maintain appropriate cleanliness of room and materials including strict adherence to universal precautions

      Management Responsibilities :

      · Co-manage Teacher Assistants

      · Provide feedback to be used in Performance Evaluation of the Teacher Assistants

      Education & Experience:

      · An Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development OR

      · An Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university including at least fifteen (15) credit hours from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development and at least one (1) year of supervised experience working with children in a licensed District of Columbia Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction

      At least forty-eight (48) credit hours from an accredited college or university, at least fifteen (15) credit hours from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development and at least two (2) year of supervised experience working with children in a licensed District of Columbia Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction
