      Overview

      The Job in a Nutshell:

      The Legal Intern will work closely with the Natural Grocers legal department to assist on a wide variety of practical legal services. Under the supervision of the Vice President and General Counsel, the intern will be responsible for assisting with corporate matters, commercial real estate leasing and subleasing matters, commercial contracts, legal research, and other matters.

      Responsibilities

      Main Ingredients:

    • Assist the legal department with legal and transactional aspects of commercial real estate leases and subleases , including assisting in drafting correspondence to parties involved in company real estate leases; assisting in the preparation of memoranda documenting critical dates under real estate leases and other real estate contracts; and assisting in the performance of real estate due diligence matters for company leases and acquisitions.
    • Support a wide array of corporate matters and tracking and management of key corporate data.
    • Assist in the review and analysis of commercial contracts ; assist in drafting commercial contracts, as needed.
    • Perform legal due diligence regarding contract and real estate matters.
    • Research an array of legal issues and deliver practical and concise analysis regarding those issues.
    • Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities all employees are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.

    • Highly organized and able to meet and beat deadlines while managing multiple competing priorities.
    • Extremely proficient at independently identifying and addressing important details with appropriate supervision or oversight.
    • Excellent analytical and research skills and the ability to independently arrive at well-reasoned recommendations, commensurate with education and experience level.
    • Excellent writing skills and the ability to concisely translate complex concepts into plain English consistently in accordance with sound principles of grammar and usage.
    • Positive attitude and commitment to excellent customer service.
    • Integrity and commitment to handling confidential matters with discretion.
    • Highly proficient with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, and excellent aptitude for learning and using new technologies designed to increase efficiency and eliminate duplicative efforts.
    • Must be currently enrolled in Juris Doctor program at ABA accredited law school.
    • The position will require at least 50% in person work at the Company’s Lakewood, Colorado store support center.

      Physical Requirements:

      • Must have the ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs. Must also have the ability to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift.
      • Must have the ability to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull 16-100 lbs.
      • Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse.
      • Must be able to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
      • Must be able to frequently to reach above chest.
      • Must be able to occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed.

      Environmental Requirements:

      • Must be able to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
      • Must be able to occasionally work with noise, cold, heat, wet, humid, outside, heights, and contact stress.
