      This position is for the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

      Librarian needed for Reeceville Elementary School.

      Summary Statement: The school librarian plans, develops, and improves the program of school library services. Assesses and meets the needs of students an faculty for information and develops programs to stimulate students’ interest in reading.

      Essential Functions:

      • Plans and implements library program.
      • Plans, selects, and arranges library quarters.
      • Schedules, trains, and supervises clerical staff.
      • Schedules the use of library by classes or groups.
      • Integrates the library program with the educational program.
      • Programs the use of library resources by students and faculty.
      • Organizes and supervises circulation of library materials.
      • Publicizes the services and resources of library.
      • Coordinates the services of school and public libraries.
      • Participates in developmental and faculty meetings.
      • Evaluates the building library program, services, and materials.
      • Participates in library and other educational and professional associations on the local, regional, state, and national levels.
      • Recognizes individual student needs, interests, goals, abilities, and progress rate.
      • Integrates library service, guidance, and materials with the classroom teaching program.
      • Customizes and personalizes teaching and individualizes learning by providing library service, guidance, and resources.
      • Recognizes current educational research, trends, methods, and materials.
      • Establishes routines and procedures for selecting, ordering, processing, organizing, and circulating materials.
      • Maintains accurate records of library holdings.
      • Removes obsolete and worn materials from collection.
      • Supervises clerical routines.
      • Appraises the classroom learning situation regularly and systematically.
      • Demonstrates familiarity with and ability to use instructional materials.
      • Cooperates with school district procedures for selection, inventory, acquisition, and use of instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.
      • Appraises own performance, lesson execution and outcomes, as well as pupil progress.

      Other Duties:

      • Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
      • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities.
      • Inventories books, materials, and records as required.
      • Administers group standardized tests in accordance with state testing program.
      • Supports district initiatives to meet the needs of children served.

      Required Certification: PA State Instructional Certification in Library Science K-12. Dual certification preferred.

      Required Skills and Knowledge:

      • Ability to direct and manage children effectively.
      • Must have expert content knowledge in subjects taught.
      • Must work effectively in a high-stakes testing environment.

      External Candidates must upload required clearances. This includes the Act 34 (State Criminal Clearance), Act 151 (Child Abuse) and Act 114 (FBI Clearance). All Clearances must be within 1 year of application date.
