- Lead end-to-end engineering projects for distribution centers, fulfillment facilities, and supporting infrastructure
- Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria aligned with business strategy
- Drive project execution from design through build, commissioning, and operational handoff
- Provide technical direction across engineering disciplines (industrial, mechanical, electrical, controls)
- Review and approve engineering designs, layouts, specifications, and equipment selections
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, safety requirements, and QA/QC processes
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and operational challenges
- Lead, mentor, and develop project engineers and engineering resources
- Coordinate work across internal teams, site leadership, IT, operations, and external vendors
- Manage consultants, integrators, and contractors to ensure performance and accountability
- Develop project budgets, capital requests, and ROI justifications
- Create and manage detailed project schedules and milestone plans
- Track project costs, manage change orders, and control capital spend
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within approved budgets
- Serve as primary engineering liaison for operations, finance, IT, vendors, and executive leadership
- Provide clear project updates, risk assessments, and status reporting
- Align engineering solutions with operational needs and long-term network strategy
- Identify technical, schedule, cost, and operational risks
- Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards
- Design, build, and retrofit of distribution centers and fulfillment facilities
- Warehouse automation systems (conveyance, sortation, AS/RS, robotics, pick modules)
- Material flow, slotting, labor optimization, and process improvement initiatives
- Facility infrastructure (racking, dock equipment, MHE, power, network readiness)
- Support for multi-site rollouts, expansions, relocations, and integrations
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
- 5+ years of progressive engineering experience, with significant project leadership responsibility
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, fulfillment processes, or supply chain systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and vendor performance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, with the ability to independently create, modify, and review detailed warehouse layouts, equipment drawings, material flow diagrams, and facility plans to support project design, analysis, and implementation.
- Exceptional Excel capability, used as a primary tool for analyzing operational data, evaluating trade-offs, supporting capital and process decisions, and quantifying the impact of engineering initiatives on cost, capacity, labor, and service.
- Experience in 3PL, e-commerce fulfillment, or high-volume distribution environments
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), labor management systems (LMS), or automation controls
- Strategic thinking with hands-on execution capability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead through ambiguity and change

- Collaborative leader with a customer-service mindset
Position Summary
The Engineering Manager of Project Engineering leads the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects across distribution and fulfillment operations. This role is responsible for delivering facility, automation, and process improvement projects that support operational performance, scalability, cost control, and service commitments.
Acting as the bridge between technical engineering disciplines and business objectives, the Engineering Manager oversees the full project lifecycle-from concept and design through implementation and handoff to operations-while managing teams, budgets, schedules, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
