      We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Apprentice to assist with duct installation projects at a major healthcare facility. This role is essential in supporting journeyman-level leads by providing an extra set of hands for various mechanical tasks. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field while working in a collaborative team environment.

      Responsibilities
      • Assist in the installation of hangers by hanging sheet metal straps from inserts installed in concrete decks or hanging trapeze strut hangers.
      • Participate in high pressure duct installation, including TDF/TDC flange rectangular duct connections and cutting in taps as needed.
      • Engage in low pressure duct installation by cutting and installing spiral ductwork and fittings.
      • Work in crews of 3-4 under the guidance of journeyman-level leads.
      Essential Skills
      • 2+ years of construction experience.
      • Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn.
      • Ability to work with sheet metal and duct installation.
      • Familiarity with HVAC systems and blueprint reading.
      • Possession of OSHA 10 certification or higher.
      • Proficiency with hand tools, including impact drills, wrenches, pliers, channel locks, vice grips, 9/16ths sockets with impact adapter, and screwdrivers.
      • Must have a Type 2 hard hat with a chin strap and cut level 5 gloves.
      Additional Skills & Qualifications
      • Harness and retractable gear.
      • OSHA 30 certification.
      • Experience in commercial or industrial construction.
      • Stainless steel welding skills.

      Work Environment

      The work is located at Nationwide Children's Hospital, with shifts from 6 AM to 3 PM Monday through Thursday, and 6 AM to noon on Fridays. Currently, the role includes working 2-3 Saturday shifts per month, increasing to weekly Saturdays in late spring or early summer. The position requires wearing PPE, including a Type 2 hard hat with a chin strap, high visibility vest, safety glasses, cut level 5 gloves, and steel-toed boots.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
