      Summary

      Performs routine tasks relating to the manufacture, assembly, repair or modification of products. Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments. Tasks are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Decisions/actions have an impact within a contained area of work activity. Works under close Supervision. Situations not covered by procedures are referred to a higher level. May demonstrate work methods to new employees. Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in routine exchanges of information; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, would be monitored.

      Detailed Description

      Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

      • Performs hand soldering, manual assembly, setup and operation of semiautomatic and/or automated assembly equipment and tools, operation of automated test equipment, operation of functioal test units, inspection and repair of product .
      • Uses visual aids, wiring lists, verbal and written instructions and other documentation to perform assembly work.
      • Inspects component parts prior to assembly and rejects defective parts.
      • High Mix Low Volume (HMLV) Operation model may move from one operation and/or product to another as schedule dictates.
      • Has foundation skills, is competent in a range of skills associated with their primary work area and may possess some additional key skills.

      Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

      • Must possess specific certifications as defined by site operations.
      • Knowledge of product quality and soldering specifications.
      • Knowledge of manufacturing information systems.
      • Ability to recognize problems in the operation process or with components and to highlight/communicate those problems to Team Leader.
      • Ability to learn established quality and quantity requirements. Ability to manually assemble components and produce high quality products in defined time periods.
      • Basic manufacturing system knowledge.

      Physical Demands

      • Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
      • Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and precise hand/eye coordination, sitting and/or standing in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.
      • Duties may require periodic heavy manual effort including lifting objects.
      • Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.
      • Above demands are carried out within the company and statutory health and safety guidelines.

      Typical Experience

      • Two to Four years relevant experience

      • High School or equivalent (Basic numeracy and Literacy).
