We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to come and join our expanding team on the Belvoir Ward which is a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) ward based at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit.
We are looking for a positive, proactive individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and continuously improving services. Whether you're an experienced nurse or newly qualified, you'll be supported to thrive in your role, with opportunities for professional development and well-being resources to support you along the way. We are looking for candidates with prior experience working in a healthcare setting, who is confident in supporting patients with complex mental health needs and is compassionate, caring and confident when dealing with difficult situations.
Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) are specialised wards that provide inpatient mental health care, assessment and comprehensive treatment to individuals who are experiencing the most acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder, where some individuals present with acute distress and maybe an absconding, suicide, or self-harm risk. Belvoir Ward is a 10-bed Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit which has a higher staff to patient ratio compared to most wards.
Main duties of the job
As a Mental Health Nurse at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit, you will be expected to deliver high-quality, safe, and compassionate care in accordance with NHS values, ensuring dignity, respect, and patient-centred care are upheld at all times. A commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity, infection prevention and control, and ongoing professional development is essential. The post holder must demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a clear understanding of the responsibilities associated with working within a Male PICU setting, where patient and staff safety is paramount. We ask that you demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to problem solve and negotiate and enforce boundaries.
