      JOB DESCRIPTION:

      Mental Health Techs at the Brattleboro Retreat help meet the needs of children, adolescents and adults who have been hospitalized for mental health issues. For example, Mental Health Techs will:

      • provide direct supervision and patient support
      • engage patients in therapeutic activities
      • organize and run group programs.

      NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

      May be required to perform duties of lesser, equal or greater responsibility.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      1. Bachelor's degree in a human service related field with an emphasis on behavioral sciences OR high school diploma and preferably 2 years (minimum1 year) related experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting.

      2. Excellent interpersonal skills to relate effectively with co-workers and all members of the treatment team.

      3. Current active VT Nursing Assistant licensure preferred.

      4. Must have valid driver's license without any record of motor vehicle violations or convictions limiting driving privileges. (See Human Resource Employment Policy for further details.)


      ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL AND ARCC Mental Health Tech POSITIONS:

      1. Bachelor's degree and 21 years of age and experience working with children and youth; OR High School Diploma or GED and 21 years of age and two years' experience interacting with children and youth.
      2. Must have valid driver's license without any record of motor vehicle violations or convictions limiting driving privileges for day or evening shifts. Valid unrestricted driver's license is preferred for overnight shifts. (See Human Resource Employment Policy for further details.)

      12 hour shifts
      36 hours weekly

      The Brattleboro Retreat is a non-profit psychiatric and addiction hospital in southern Vermont. We offer a full continuum of care for children, adolescents, and adults including inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospital care.
