      Summary Objective

      The purpose of this position is to assists Council Clerk provide staff support to the Metro Council.

      This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
      The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

      • Gathers and distributes information pertinent to agenda items.
      • Assists in the maintenance and security of all records and files.
      • Reviews meeting agendas for items referred to committee and makes additions or updates as required from research or other sources.
      • Assists in reviewing legislation and document contents for all pertinent information and formatting before placement on committee agendas.
      • Sets up virtual meetings, and tracks and sends virtual meeting invitations.
      • Prepares Council Chambers for meetings.
      • Practices basic parliamentary procedure during meetings.
      • Assists in the maintenance and security of all records and files.
      • Researches records and files for requested information.
      • Answers calls and tracks communications from the public.
      • Performs related work as assigned.

      MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

      • High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
      • Two (2) years of clerical or administrative support experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
      Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

      • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
