- Perform microbiology testing, including sterility testing and environmental monitoring
- Conduct culture swabs on tissue, equipment, and laboratory environments
- Execute tissue donor infectious disease testing and confirmatory infectious disease assays
- Perform component quality control (QC) testing
- Read and interpret media plates for microbial growth
- Prepare, read, and interpret Gram stains
- Utilize and interpret selective and differential media
- Accurately document test results in accordance with laboratory protocols and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of laboratory safety practices and basic microbiology techniques
- Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in microbiology testing
- Proven experience with:
- Sterility testing
- Gram staining
- Bioburden testing
- Microbial identification techniques
- Experience reading media plates for molecular and microbial growth
- Strong understanding of Gram stain interpretation
- Working knowledge of:
- Selective and differential media
- Microbial identification methodologies
- Vitek MS and Vitek II systems

Job Title: Microbiology Lab Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Microbiology Lab Technician to join our laboratory team. This role is responsible for performing a wide range of microbiological testing, including sterility testing, environmental monitoring, microbial identification, and infectious disease testing. The position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of tissue donations and other biological samples.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00/hr.
