      Summary

      As part of a Congregation team at The Austin Stone Community Church, the Missions Lead (ML) will be responsible for recruiting, training, and deploying partners and attenders of The Austin Stone into regular service to our city and among the nations. The ML will report to the Congregation Executive Pastor, Operations Director, or Spiritual Formation Director/Pastor.

      Essential Responsibilities

      • Develop, equip, resource, and care for lay leaders and volunteers in the Missions ministry.
      • Provide general shepherding care to Partners and regular attenders, connecting elders or deacons to any pastoral needs.
      • Lead deacon teams to uniquely invest, support, and lead ministry in local and global missions.
      • Ensure the implementation of the Missions strategy for deploying partners and attenders of the congregation into regular service to our city and among the nations.
      • Collaborate with congregational ministry to ensure effective communication and information flow to all congregational staff and to partners and attenders.
      • Steward the ministry budget.
      • Gather important ministry data including key performance indicators (KPIs) to report to congregational leadership.
      • Attend, serve, and lead at all required events and activities for The Austin Stone, including all Sunday services, staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, and staff development days.

      Required Qualifications

      • High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferred
      • 2 years of experience in a vocational ministry role or equivalent experience
      • Previous experience shepherding people and providing pastoral care, preferred
      • Experience leading volunteers, preferred

      Shepherding - Ability to understand and meet people where they are emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Demonstrative skill in pastoral settings such as care, discipline and congregational gatherings. Exemplify a ministry that is reliant on prayer. Create environments and communities where God’s people sense the care of the church leadership team.

      Leadership Development - Ability to lead, recruit, resource, and mobilize volunteer teams to scale. Ability to recruit, manage, and lead teams to the mission of God through The Austin Stone. Proven capacity to multiply leaders (staff, deacons, volunteers, etc.) who hold and can communicate the church's values. Ability to mobilize the local congregation to love God, love the church, love the city and love the nations. Understanding of The Austin Stone’s ministry strategy and competency in application of strategies in equipping and mobilization.

      Communication - Has clarity of speech and proper use of grammar. Demonstrated capacity to inspire, instruct, and encourage through effective communication in various settings. Able to communicate and work within a complex organizational structure with multiple layers of input. Practices proactive communication laterally and upwardly in the organization. Proficient use of telephone and web video conferencing.

      Detail Oriented & Organizational Skills - Proven skills in creating, implementing, maintaining, and following through on processes that ensure people are engaged, cared for, informed and connected. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Able to successfully develop new and better ways to work and promote a continuous improvement mentality.

      Collaborative Leadership - Strong complementary leadership skills and capacity to lead in concert with other leaders. Creativity and innovation in ministry assessment and implementation. Demonstrated ability to network and connect with leaders toward Kingdom outcomes. Collaborate across the organization and with various ministry partners. Cultivate purpose-driven, relational networks.

      • Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.
      • Ability to physically navigate a multi-level campus facility.
      • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
      • Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as a computer keyboard, mouse, and similar machines.
