Job summary
The post-holder will support the Head of Clinical Services in developing (ensuring that the Nursing Team work with reference to) practice-agreed protocols and guidelines to provide treatments to patients both independently and in participation with clinical colleagues.
The Nurse Manager will work with the Senior Management Team in providing data to help them plan for the future and ensuring that there are adequate resources in place to meet patient demand.
Main duties of the job
Clinical and Management Responsibilities
Lead the Nursing and HCA team, in conjunction with Senior Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) and with the support from the Senior Practice Nurse, as required
Support and mentor those within the team new to primary care or extending their role, ie Cytology screening, contraception reviews, travel health etc
Sickness and absence management co-ordination, including approval of annual leave
Review and authorise overtime and expenses for the team
Sickness absence review meetings (with support from the Head of People)
Undertaking Performance Development / Performance Reviews (PDPRs) of the Nursing/HCA Team with support from the Senior Practice Nurse
Supporting ARRS roles, as and when required and liaise with lead PCN Nurse
Undertake workforce profiling, with support from the Head of Clinical Services, and rota management
Co-ordinate, plan and host Nursing/HCA Team meetings including clinical supervision
Clinical lead for Cervical Screening
Co-ordinate and ensure all team are aware of current PGDS, all documentation is signed and stored securely
In conjunction with the Head of People and Planning Team, co-ordinate inductions for new starters into the team.

We are a Personal Medical Services (PMS) practice offering Primary Care Services for the diagnosis and prevention of disease. We help patients to manage their health and prevent illness. Our GPs assess, diagnose, treat and manage illness. They carry out screening for some diseases and promote general health and wellbeing. Our GPs act as a patients advocate, supporting and representing a patients best interests to ensure they receive the best and most appropriate health and/or social care.
The Practice has a current list size of 30,000 patients and we are part of the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (formerly NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group).
