      In this role, you will work as part of the Community Neuro Pathway in Dudley Rehabilitation Service (DRS); providing effective and efficient Occupational Therapy (OT) for a caseload of patients who have had a long term neurological condition. Duties will include assessment, providing therapy and self-management advice, as well as appropriate delegation of work to assistants. Clinical work will be carried out both in clinic and patient's places of residence.

      Additionally, you will engage in clinical supervision and continuous professional development activities and contribute to service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.

      Main duties of the job

      • To work closely with OT colleagues and other members of the Neuro MDT to provide an integrated rehab service to people within the community.
      • To autonomously manage patients who have had a long term neurological condition who may also have a wide variety of co-morbidities, making referrals to other health professionals / services and GPs as appropriate.
      • To establish good communications within the Community Neuro Pathway, patients and their carers.
      • To liaise externally with colleagues in social services and primary care, voluntary sector and other agencies.
      • To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area, often working without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from the team members is available as required.
      • To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

      • Knowledge across the range of Occupational Therapy practices in the physical field
      • Evidence of theoretical knowledge and continuous professional development
      • Relevant undergraduate experience in acute setting at student level or sound knowledge base and ability to adapt
      • Knowledge of the wider multi-disciplinary team
      • Basic IT skills

      Desirable

      • Ability to demonstrate understanding of NHS and the challenges facing the Occupational Therapy profession
