      The P&C Product Compliance State Filings Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Assurant's product development, product enhancements, regulatory compliance, and state filings activities. This position ensures that our P&C and service contract products, including commercial equipment and heavy trucking product lines, comply with evolving state and federal requirements and are filed accurately, on time, and efficiently with state insurance departments.

      You will partner closely with Product, Legal, Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, and Operations to translate regulatory changes into compliant forms, rates, and rules-helping us deliver products that meet customer needs while maintaining strict regulatory adherence.

      What will my duties and responsibilities be in this job?

      Regulatory Monitoring & Compliance Review
      • Review incoming regulatory updates (via OneSumX or similar tools) and assess impacts to Assurant products, forms, rates, and rules.
      • Prepare internal compliance summaries outlining required revisions or risks.
      • Research competitor filings as needed to support business decisions.


      Form, Rule & Rate Drafting
      • Draft and revise policy language that is clear, concise, and compliant across all jurisdictions.
      • Incorporate feedback from key stakeholders (Business, Operations, Claims, Legal, Actuarial, Underwriting).
      • Ensure forms achieve desired business outcomes while adhering to state and federal standards.


      State Filing Ownership (SERFF & Non-SERFF)
      • Prepare and submit new product filings, product enhancements, and compliance filings through SERFF or, when required, via mail/email.
      • Complete all required components, including checklists, certifications, transmittals, filing memos, and submission letters.
      • Pay filing fees and track submissions across states.


      Objection & Inquiry Management
      • Review and analyze Department of Insurance objections, cited statutes, and examiner questions.
      • Draft responses, revise forms, and coordinate with internal teams.
      • Under the manager's guidance, engage with state examiners to explain the company's positions and resolve questions.


      Regulatory Reporting, Market Conduct & Audits
      • Support research and response preparation for:
        • Market Conduct inquiries
        • State surveys
        • Data calls
        • Litigation support
        • Internal/external audits


      Post-Approval Administration
      • Complete state filing system updates, supplemental data entry, product association steps, and internal publication of approved materials.
      • Maintain filing status in OneSumX and other internal systems.


      Development Path for Entry-Level Analysts
      • Entry-level analysts will begin with product enhancements and lower-complexity filings.
      • Progress to new product development and complex filings once proficiency in products, processes, and regulatory interpretation is demonstrated.
      • Work will be reviewed by senior team members and the Manager/Director.


      What are the requirements needed for this position?
      • Associate degree
      • Minimum 4 years of experience in the insurance industry (P&C or service contract preferred)
      • Experience with commercial equipment or heavy equipment P&C products
      • Familiarity with service contract product structures, especially multi-state program administration and compliance
      • Understanding of how filings, forms, rates, and rules apply within equipment-focused risk categories
      • Ability to interpret and adapt regulatory changes specific to commercial or heavy equipment product lines


      What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
      • Paralegal certificate or insurance designation (e.g., AINS)
      • Strong writing, drafting, and editing skills; close attention to detail
      • Working knowledge of SERFF and state filing processes
      • Ability to research regulations and interpret insurance statutes
      • Comfort working with ambiguity and evolving priorities
      • Growth mindset and interest in process improvement
      • Strong time-management and organizational skills
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
      • Ability to balance compliance needs with business objectives
      • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate across teams
      • Knowledge of consumer/home warranty or service contract regulation (or willingness to learn)


      How much should I expect to travel?

      5% Travel may be required, typically for insurance regulatory meetings or internal business sessions

      What are the working conditions and physical requirements of this job?

      This position requires incumbents to regularly sit at a desk and operate standard office equipment such as a computer and phone. Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk, and to lift, carry, and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear.       Pay Range:
      $56,200.00 - $94,100.00

      Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
