- Manager of the TDOE PULSE database, inclusive of reporting Special Education, ELL, and Dyslexia data
- Manage SpEd, 504s, ILPs, and ILP-Ds
- Set-up of all new employees and/or employee changes
- Submit state reports
- Send transfer records to other districts
- Manage requests from psych and SLP for transfer portal
- Exit students who have graduated from Sped
- Provide PULSE training for all new employees
- Provide PULSE use support for applicable teachers and staff
- Monitor missing documents/red stop signs/progress reports as appropriate
- Conduct and support IEP & 504 Compliance Monitoring
- Special Education Records Management
- Transfer and withdraw students from the school district
- Provide Special Education documents to state programs
- Maintain a wide variety of manual and electronic files and records for providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
- Scan and archive historical special education records
- Prepare special education folders for case managers
- Prepare comprehensive SpEd record printing for parent/guardian retrieval
- Manage state disability request forms and faxing SpEd documents
- Support completion of Transition (indicator 13) Family Interviews
- Support completion of Parent Satisfaction Surveys (indicator 8)
- Special Education Finance Management
- Purchase special education materials
- Coordinate with Finance Department to maintain financial records/invoices, reconcile accounts and ensure proper lines of accounting.
- Special Education Training
- Disperse and monitor digital training completion
- Assist with organizing professional development and other duties as necessary to support the district’s special education department
- Provide IEP Compliance Training and similar trainings
- Provide mentoring support to new special education teachers and assistants
- Other duties as assigned
- Position Description and Duties can be amended at the discretion of the Director of Schools based on the needs of the district at the central office level and the strengths of each team member in place.
- MCS Central Office maintains high quality team members in a very lean structure which occasionally requires all members of the Central Office team to pull together for periods of high-volume workload in varying departments and/or special events.
Qualifications: College Degree
Preferred Candidate: Teaching, Teaching Assistance, Special Education Experience
Salary Range: $28,000 - $34,500

Position Overview: The Special Education Specialist provides a wide variety of complex and confidential support to the Special Education Department with a focus on ensuring smooth and efficient business operations in a customer-centered, policy guided manner. While this job has clearly defined responsibilities and tasks, it is supported and supervised by the MCS Special Education Director.
General responsibilities include working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; tracking budget expenditures.
Job Expectations
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-Time Flexible Hours (approximately 20 hours per week)
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK: Work is typically performed in an office setting with occasional extended periods at computer terminals.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s Policy of Evaluation of Classified Personnel by supervisor, Director of Special Education
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
