      The City of Brooklyn Park is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Technician to join its Human Resources team. This part-time position (25–29 hours per week) processes accurate, timely bi-weekly payroll for 450+ regular and 300+ seasonal employees. Responsibilities include managing the full payroll cycle: reviewing and approving timesheets; preparing payroll files; ensuring onboarding compliance (I-9, W-4, direct deposit); entering and updating HRIS data; processing pay changes; and supporting PERA retirement reporting. The role interprets federal, state, and labor contract provisions related to overtime, FMLA, leave laws, deductions, and benefits, while providing responsive customer service and maintaining strict confidentiality.

      Minimum Qualifications:
      Associate’s degree in finance, payroll, HR, or related field
      Two years of payroll, finance, or HR experience (or equivalent combination)
      Strong attention to detail and time management
      Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
      Strong communication and customer service skills
      Part-time, non-exempt, non-union with limited benefits.
