Role Overview
PIC, a Genus PLC company, has an exciting opportunity for a Planning, Inventory & Logistics Specialist to support global export and domestic livestock operations. This role plays a hands-on, operational part in coordinating complex livestock shipments from farm to destination, ensuring animals, documentation, and logistics move together safely, compliantly, and on schedule.
The Planning, Inventory & Logistics Specialist serves as a central point of coordination across farms, veterinarians, freight forwarders, airports, border agencies, and internal teams. Success in this role requires strong execution, attention to detail, comfort working in the field, and the ability to manage multiple shipment projects simultaneously.
This role is remote within the United States. Candidates are not required to be based near a Genus office, but must be willing and able to travel regularly to operational locations, including farms, airports, and Genus offices, as business needs require.
The salary range for this position is ($51,000 - $68,000) USD. The salary provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
You Will
• Coordinate global export and domestic livestock shipments from planning through execution.
• Serve as the on-the-ground logistics lead, coordinating farm activities such as diagnostics, ship dates, and loading schedules.
• Manage shipment timelines, documentation, and country-specific regulatory requirements, including health certificates.
• Travel to farms, airports, and border locations to support shipment execution, including overnight or time-sensitive loading when required.
• Coordinate trailer, truck, and carrier readiness for domestic livestock transport, including inspections and reporting.
• Support export cost estimates, Cost of Goods (COGs) tracking, and project-level reporting.
• Assist with transit insurance administration and export credit activities, including documentation and claims support.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by supporting standardized checklists, reporting, and logistics processes.
• Cross-train in logistics systems (including D365) and provide surge support during periods of increased shipment volume.
• Perform other related duties as required to support export and logistics operations.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness, Animal Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain coordination, agricultural operations, or export-related roles.
• Comfort working in hands-on, operational environments such as farms, airports, and transportation hubs.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects on different timelines in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel frequently (averaging approximately 40%, with periods of heavier travel), including domestic and international travel, without the need for sponsorship.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn ERP and logistics systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in live animal transportation, agricultural exports, or international logistics.
• Familiarity with air cargo operations, freight forwarding, or regulatory agencies.
• Exposure to cost tracking, budgeting, or operational reporting in a logistics environment.
