What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Implement, design, develop, and innovate computational biology and bioinformatics algorithms for scientific data analysis
- Collaborate with physicians and scientists, contributing to scientific publications and acknowledgments
- Gather requirements from stakeholders to develop algorithms/tools for novel analyses
- Provide on-demand support and troubleshooting for researchers using computational biology software
- Research and deliver training materials to promote computational biology techniques among NIH researchers
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, proteomics, or related sciences
- At least four (4) years of hands-on experience in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics
- Strong understanding of high-throughput proteomic technologies and relevant software tools
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux command-line environment and scripting languages (Python, R, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts to non-specialists
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with omics analysis pipelines and technologies such as cytometry and single-cell analysis
- Proficiency in multi-omics dataset integration involving proteomics
- Background in molecular/cellular biology, immunology, and/or infectious disease research
- Familiarity with constructing pipelines in open architecture platforms
- Experience with statistical analysis methods for identifying differentially expressed proteins
