    • Valid Ohio teaching licensure in the appropriate grade level and/or subject area is required, or the ability to obtain licensure.
    • Ohio Certification in Reading (K-12) preferred
    • Training and experience in teaching English/Language Arts and/or Reading
    • Training and experience in teaching literature and written communication
    • Experience using computers and appropriate educational software as tools in the Reading classroom
    • Training and experience with multiple reading assessments such as Clays, Brigance and F & P
    • Training and experience in using a reading and writing workshop model, and other models of teaching that promote students' active participation in their learning
    • Training and experience working with students with special needs in the regular classroom
    • Familiarity with co-teaching models and team teaching, including integrated models, familiarity with learning styles and multiple intelligences
    • Ability to plan and execute lessons to accommodate the needs of students of all ability levels (remedial and enriched); excellent evaluations for experienced teachers
    • Outstanding recommendations
    • Willingness to work as a team member on a daily basis and as part of the Ohio Improvement Process
    • Ability and willingness to engage in ongoing curriculum development
    • Commitment to improving student performance as measured by local and state assessment measures
    • Must be a highly qualified teacher
    • Willingness to lead and coordinate family and community literacy events
    • Training and ability to diagnose gaps in student reading performance and recommend/implement research-based strategies
    • Willingness to collaborate with literacy coach to support the implementation of a balanced literacy framework
    • Understanding and collection of artifacts for Title I compliance
