      Outdoor Adventure Program Supervisor

      JOB TITLE: Outdoor Adventure Program Supervisor

      CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt – Seasonal

      DEPARTMENT: Recreation

      SUPERVISOR: Recreation Specialist

      Salary: $14 Per Hour

      GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

      Supervisor is expected to be an excellent role model as they teach a variety of outdoor skills and foster a close community of participants. Outdoor skills taught include backpacking, kayaking, camp cooking, orienteering, archery, environmentalism concepts, and general outdoor education. Other specialized skills taught as needed.

      PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Assists in the leading of groups on outdoor recreation activities and trips that may include backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, etc.
      • Drives City vehicles to transport participations and/or equipment.
      • Ensures safety.
      • Assists in planning activities.
      • Assist in appropriate selection of supplies, raw materials, and literature.
      • Inventory of required materials
      • Preference given for Rock Climbing experience.

      SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

      • Southeastern Wyoming terrain and outdoor areas

      • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
      • Work with youth, teens, and adults alike.
      • Effectively demonstrate all methods for various outdoor activities
      • Ability to work with children as young as 8 years old.

      QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

      Required:

      Experience in adventure / outdoor recreation.

      Prior experience with Children

      Applicants must be able to pass a complete criminal background check which includes fingerprinting and child abuse registry.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain the physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.

      Working Environment :

      Outdoors and exposed to the elements, and irregular working hours (evenings and/or weekends, some overnights)
